November 15th, 2021 - Calculating Peak Flow

The group utilized the calculated values found in earlier steps of the project, the group accessed the HEC-HMS program to find the peak flow of the relevant water basin. HEC-HMS is a highly accurate program provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and their Hydrologic Engineering Center. Using HEC-HMS, the drainage area of half a square mile was determined to have a peak discharges of 185 cubic feet per second,  338 CFS, and 589 CFS for 2, 10, and 100 year 24-hour storm events respectively. After having found these calculations, the group will be able to move forward in their decision-making process for which alternative design they will pursue or if they will need to pursue a combination of several of the alternatives.
